Clan Fergusson Flyer & Membership Form

The name of Ferguson or Fergusson is very old and famous and has long been widely spread in Scotland, from Ross-shire to Dumfriesshire and from Fife to Argyll.  There are traditions purporting to explain the wide dispersal of the Fergussons but all that is certain from the contemporary records is that, by the 13th century, there were men in widely separated districts of Scotland who alike called themselves sons of Fergus.  While down through the centuries the history of the Fergussons could generally be traced through large territorial groups, by 1800 it could only be followed by individual families since the Scottish population was becoming predominately urban and industrial.  By this time and before, Scotsmen, for various reasons, were emigrating in large numbers to different parts of the world.  Thus the name of Fergusson, it's septs and variants, were carried to North America.  And here, as in Scotland, Fergussons have made notable contributions in the arts, the law, in politics, government and the military, in medicine and science, in education, in agriculture, and in business and industry.
